Equine Zen Biography
.
My name is Trisha Moore and Equine Zen was created to help people re-connect to their true self and the natural world around them through playing, learning and healing with horses. Horses have an uncanny ability to be present at all times. They are constantly living in the present, always sizing up their surroundings. Trish Moore & her DadAlthough it is difficult to put words to the art of Zen, I have found that horses embody Zen principle; they are in the moment always. Because horses are prey animals they must pay close attention to the environment at all times. Horses rely on their inner sense, or what humans refer to as the sixth sense, to determine any cause for alarm. This talent makes horses a wonderful reader board for healing work because they are always “reading” the energy of other animals and people who come into their space. Horses are able to detect incongruent emotions and can clearly see the “true colors” of human behavior. Through energy balancing techniques and horse behavior interpretation, Equine Zen can help you become more balanced physically, emotionally and spiritually, bringing you back in touch with your true self.

I have loved horses since I was very young. From the moment I could get my little legs over a saddle, all I wanted to do was ride and spend time with these magnificent creatures. My formal riding lessons started at the age of seven.Trish Moore & Red The barn where I rode was literally my second home from the age of seven until I turned 16. During that time I showed Hunters throughout Washington State, competing in Pony and Children’s Hunter. This was a very special time for me as I developed wonderful friendships and had the opportunity to ride and learn on several different horses. Each horse taught me a great deal about riding and about myself.

After turning 16, horses took a back seat to boys and friends. I quit riding for a few years, only to return during college because I longed for that connection of being around horses. Halfway through college, I ended up back at the barn where I grew up and was hired to teach students and train horses. For the next several years, showing and training as a professional meant that there was always something new to learn, and my riding and teaching abilities blossomed.

In 1997, I met and married my husband, Allen, and soon after, our son, Ciabhan, was born. At that point, I had just purchased my dream horse, Finn. He was 2- 1/2 and had not had much handling. It was a first for me to have a horse that had not been ridden by anyone else before. Finn was a “clean slate” and it was important for me to give Finn the best start in life, and so I decided to make some changes in the way I worked with horses. I had become frustrated with the traditional methods of training and wanted to find a way to work with horses that truly honored the horse and the relationship horses and humans share. It was important to me to respect  these majestic animals that have been so gracious in their willingness to partner with humans. It seemed that most trainers were all about controlling the horse instead of partnering with the horse.

Trish Moore & FinnAt that time, the natural horsemanship movement was in its early stages and I became intrigued. After participating in my first clinic, I realized I had found exactly what I was looking for. These methods honored the horse and taught people how to truly partner with their horse. On top of all that, it was fun! Since that first clinic, Finn and I have attended several “natural horsemanship” clinics and continue to learn additional methods to strengthen our horse-human partnership.

It is a dream come true for me to be able to combine my love for horses with the desire to help people heal. Over time, my intuitive abilities expanded and the subtle communication I experience with horses led me to become a Reiki Master Teacher. I received my certification from Marie Manuchehri, an RN and Energy Intuitive. I look forward to assisting you on your healing journey!
